Neurobiology has shown in the recent years that contrary to the traditional boundaries between animal and plants, plants can feel, move and even think. Over the recent years, a small but growing group of researchers from Austria, Germany, Italy, UK, Japan, South Africa and the USA, has developed a new scientific field of research: the neurobiology of plants. Their discoveries question the traditional boundaries set between the animal and the vegetable kingdom: plants are capable to develop the cognitive process claimed by humans and animals. If plants can move, and feel... Could they possibly think ? In a creative and captivating scientific investigation style, through spectacular specialist photography and CGI, and re-creating scientific experiments, this documentary is bound to change your own perception of plants.

It is a film about Madjid: He is gay and a follower of voodoo. We meet him at his workplace; a tiny barbershop called "Prince Coiffure" in Lome where he talks about his universe which is populated by spirits of male, female and multiple sexes with who he is in contact. They define his understanding of himself in the context of social relations and offer him pragmatic solutions in his every day life. For him the representations of different genders are naturally part of the traditional believe system of voodoo. He sees a causal link between his homosexuality and his personal voodoo spirits. Madjid is regularly participating in voodoo ceremonies which signify protection, comfort, social integration, and guidance for him. He invites us to participate in one of these ceremonies.

A renowned sound engineer and biologist, Marc Namblard lives with his family on the edge of a forest in the Vosges mountains in France. During the day (and sometimes at night), Namblard ventures deep into the forest, audio equipment in tow, to capture sounds no one’s heard before: a bee rubbing its legs together, the drumbeat of marching ants, the songs of nocturnal animals, ice cracking beneath a frozen lake. A magical and beguiling documentary that asks us to reconsider how we see – and hear – our world, In The Stillness of Sounds offers a wondrous appreciation of nature’s ecosystem.
"Bayini is a great spiritual woman she started to talk, to dance, to sing. She made everything around, all that comes from history. The vision and the dream she was seeing is the Anchor". Murrmurrnga Burarrwanga, his grandmother Gaymala Yunupingu, and their family established at Bawaka, Port Bradshaw, in North Australia, tell a story related to a precolonial (at least several centuries ago) experience of trade between their people, the Yolngu from Arnhem Land, and "fishermen from South-East Asia: the Macassans who used to collect trepang in exchange for rice, tobacco, pipes, knifes and canoes". Body language, paintings, songs and dances accompanied by the didjeridu give us an insight into their system of knowledge based on a very complex network of spiritual connections between people and the environment.
An allegory of the Golem, a Jewish mythical creature personifying displacement and exile, this film tells the story of a woman (similar to the biblical Ruth) and her sisters, who are forced into exile after the death of their husbands. It is set in 1990s Paris, where the director was living in self-imposed exile following the ban on his 1982 documentary in Israel. The recurring theme of the film is migrations and unrooting, like the legendary Golem.
