This corporate documentary was filmed on the sands of the south coast of Iceland and describes the construction of the road and the bridge over the great glacial river Skeidará, the last obstacle impeding the completion of the road around Iceland. Riders demonstrate how the river used to be crossed, and take us on the old route over the glacier, which was used when the river was in spate.

Loftur Guðmundsson films the Icelandic industry. Although only a few industrial companies are shown. They are, Ölgerðin Egil Skallagrímsson, Brjóstsykurverksmiðjan Nói, Kaffibrennsla Ó Johnson & Kaaber, Verksmiðjan Hreinn, Kornmylla and Mjólkurstöð Mjólkurfélag Reykjavíkur. In the film you can see a machine culture that is rising up in the city. However, the aforementioned companies paid Loftur for the film and it can therefore be said that this is an advertisement for individual companies.

The film shows the most diverse branches of industry and public life, but the longest continuous section is from Reykjavík. Other chapters of the film are from all over the country, such as Mývatn, Siglufjörður during the herring fishing season and of the eruption at Hekla.

The film is about travelling on horseback across the Icelandic interior on the main route, which once connected the north of Iceland with the shout. This route was the scene of a tragic accident in the 18th century, when young farmers moving a flock of sheep to the North, perished in a snowstorm. For many years following the incident the track was not used, until the 19th century, when Captain Daniel Bruun from Denmark, accompanied by a photographer and a water-colour artist, crossed the difficult terrain, deep rivers, and rocky heights in sun, rain, fog and wind, marking the way with stones laboriously heaped into cairns.
