I A Dog

This was my first published short film. It is a film of my two dogs - Chippy in the foreground and Audrey behind - through the windowpane. Chippy was upset with me for filming without his consent and for refusing to let him inside for the two minutes I spent filming. The film is an experiment in "perverted formats" (a medium filtered through another).

Two brothers must deal with the sudden loss of their parents. As one falls into the darkness of a troubled marriage, the other must find an escape from the evil that is devouring his family.

In the rapidly economically developing South Korea of 1983, a young teenage boy named Jaeyoung, who is struggling with a strained relationship with his rather remote father, has two dogs named Jinjin and Akida. It soon becomes obvious that Jaeyoung’s father cares more for the two dogs than he does for his son. In an attempt to gain his father’s attention, Jaeyoung releases one of the dogs into the wild, and this changes everything.
