“Heat Shot 1” includes the process of deconstruction burning 10 years ago` s photos and negative films when I learned and made photography at first time and also reveals the process of reconstruction making a new piece, “Heat Shot” after 10 years later. It is about the process of deconstruction and reconstruction of an artist` s personal memory and life and also a question for representing images between emotional memory and material process by the strategy of repetition and difference.
“Heat Shot 1,2 “ is a pair work and also independent pieces. Both are originally made by film but sometimes they have been shown through various projections such as video version with sound and two or triple projections with improvisational sound performance. Especially, “Heat Shot 2” was shown with triple projections composed of one loop projection of just stitch image and two versions of print image in this January, 38th Rotterdam film festival. It is a trial to expand film medium mixed with performance and improvisational sound.
Masking for Serene Velocity... was made by hand-processing 35mm film. Referring to Ernie Gehr's masterpiece Serene Velocity, it explores the speed and movement between ordinary signs and memories. The collision between 16mm and 35mm film creates new movement and new meanings of film itself, materially--as well as a subtle range of emotions
