“My 17 Gay Friends” is an experimental romantic comedy that explores the interconnected web of relationships in Beijing’s gay community that surrounds an unseen narrator. It also pokes fun at stereotypes and labels that often cut across the LGBT community such as femininity and masculinity in the gay community and how it affects our perceptions of gay people and categorizes people into distinct groups. This Chinese rom-com seeks to portray an optimistic, light-hearted side of gay life in urban modern cities in order to show that homosexuality need not always be associated with depression, suicide, and a life of tragedy.
Water drops from the sky, but the mood changes quickly in this brightly coloured animation, created from paintings. A cycle of death and regeneration ensues, to convey the artist’s solidarity with this planet and its people. An escape to freedom prompts some optimism during these strange times.
A pioneering documentary in 1969, looking at the situation of gay men in the UK two years after the 1967 Reform Act, and revealing how attitudes have changed. It includes unique interviews with the Bill's initiator, Leo Abse; Peter Manolt, the Editor of the bi-sexual/gay magazine 'Jeremy'; social workers who regard 'gayness' as something to be 'cured'; the only gay man found willing to appear on camera at that time, and members of the public on the streets of London and Leeds.
This found footage project takes the form of four experimental films surrounding the mystery of the titular character. Rather than overtly appearing in each film, Johnny Kline is more a summation of the evils within the film as a whole: he is a monstrosity of cinema. By composing fragmented narratives and drawing on an array of found materials the films of Johnny Kline form a visceral and furious passage through the underbelly of found-footage cinema, where Kline is both a master of ceremonies and a spectre behind and betwixt each frame.

Could this be the end of the Sheffield-based indie band and the two musicians’ longstanding friendship? If so, what will the future look like when they leave something behind that has defined their lives for over a decade? And why can it sometimes be so difficult to simply enjoy doing what so many would-be musicians dream of? A remarkable, bittersweet portrait of what may have been the band’s final tour, filmmaker Piers Dennis joined Charles and Rebecca on the road, capturing the frailties and brilliance of their musical partnership and documenting what friendship looks like from the back of a bus.
