Friendly Fire

The show revolves around a group of friends who have remained very close since their school days. Though life has taken them down different paths, when they're brought back together, new confrontations and secrets arise, and a series of very surprising events unfold.

Barrister JJ Kam (Michael Tse) and Director of Public Prosecutions Chris Fong (Tavia Yeung) used to be cohabiting lovers, but ended up separating due to a failed marriage proposal. Fate has it when JJ makes a job transition to take a position of Prosecutor, resulting in the two working under the same roof once again. With their distinctly different approaches in handling cases, plus the interference of a new secretary (Grace Wong), the already severe crisis in their relationship has been pushed to the edge to an nonredeemable state. As each of them is hesitating over their future, a murder case involving a wealthy businesswoman Pong Tit-sum (Alice Chan) makes them go through an arduous and fierce journey all together.

In March 1970, a U.S. Army officer arrived at the Iowa farm of Peg and Gene Mullen and informed them that their son Michael had been killed in Vietnam by "friendly fire." Their determined attempts to learn more about the circumstances of their son's death are the subject of this true account film.

Brazil in the early 70s. Miguel, Eloi, Osvaldo and Paolo take part in armed attacks against the military dictatorship. They pay a heavy price with torture and arrest. Today the four friends still see each other. Only Miguel is politically active. On a photograph from a political meeting in Sao Paolo he recognises the policeman who tortured them 25 years ago and who was responsible for the death of Miguel's girlfriend. The policeman has been officially dead for a few years. On one of their fishing trips together, Miguel tells his friends of his discovery. When they hunt down and confront their nemesis they come into conflict with both themselves and each other.

Friendly Fire is an American television movie first broadcast on the ABC network on April 22, 1979. Watched that night by an estimated 64 million people, Friendly Fire went on to win four Emmy awards, including Outstanding Drama Special. The movie tells the real-life story of Peg Mullen, a woman from rural Iowa who works against government obstacles to uncover the truth about the death of her son Michael, a soldier killed by American "friendly fire" in the Vietnam War in 1970. Mullen's husband Gene is played by Ned Beatty. Friendly Fire is based on the 1976 book of the same name, written by C. D. B. Bryan, which in turn was adapted from a series of New Yorker magazine articles Bryan had written about the Mullens and their ordeal.

In the early 90's seventy youth from a Hollywood homeless shelter started a theatre project encouraging them to tell their stories.. The youth ran the gamut of racial, cultural and sexual identities. Only ten completed the project and became performers. This film documents the process. The resulting play, Friendly Fire, was performed at the prestigious Los Angeles Festival before going on to tour high schools throughout the city.
