It features Monty Python-inspired animation and several songs of the era, and was scored by the Wrong Kata Trio. Narrated by Andy Chapman and featuring interviews from most every key player of the era, the movie is based on the historical book “Make This Town Big.” Directed by Adam Knapp and Kenneth Linn, creators of the award-winning documentary short “Out Here In Kansas,” and produced by Tim O’Bryhim, Tori Deatherage and Michael Romalis.

In the spring of 1945, a Japanese balloon bomb claimed the lives of the only people killed on the continental U.S. as the result of enemy action during WWII. Forty years later, the decision to fold a thousand paper cranes would unite the Japanese and American civilians who were involved in and affected by this incident. “On Paper Wings“ is the story of four Japanese women who worked on balloon bombs, the families of those killed in the U.S., and the man whose actions brought them all together forty years after WWII, and the balloon bomb project.

It was their task to repeatedly risk their lives landing the men and tools of war deep within enemy-held territory, often in complete darkness. Thousands of lives were saved and battles won because of their efforts. In fact, one pilot interviewed said - the 'G' in their emblem didn't stand for glider; it stood for 'guts.'
