This four part series, as seen on ABC TV, tells the story of Australians on the Home Front during World War II. Personal recollections, rare archival footage and the music of the time combine to create an evocative and haunting picture of this unique picture in Australian history.

Raqs Media Collective presents an essay film with animated and collaged elements that unravel at different time spans. The three members of Raqs Media Collective dived into the Kolb-Proust archive at the University of Champaign Urbana to write new words – of emergencies, thwarted frustrations and disorder – in Marcel Proust’s handwriting, seen through prismatic light.

From Father Abraham to John the Revelator, from the first century church to this moment, the people of God have always seen themselves as pilgrims — never settlers. "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through" is more than a line from an old song. This sojourner's theme has been told to children in stories, sent in letters of encouragement to friends, preached from pulpits and whispered behind the closed doors of the underground church in times of persecution. But mostly, it's been sung. When kings were unjust, they sang of a kingdom whose builder and ruler was God. When the world seemd like a foreign country and when the strange language of power and materialism was the accepted tongue, these pilgrims reminded each other that they were natives of a far better place to which they were traveling. When they were separated, estranged or lonely, they sang of a great homecoming when all the singers would one day be together around their Father's throne.

This lively, spirit-lifting musical celebrates the sheer joy -- and survival -- of black music, song and poetry since the days of America's Civil War. With utter grace and ease, the gifted eight-member singing ensemble glides from gospel to disco and from slave-quarter sermons to contemporary black poetry.

The film is a narrative of three Sikh women living in Widows Colony wherein they lost their homes and men in the violent killings of 1984 when over 2733 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and over 9000 in India after the death of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.It is the biggest state sponsored massacre in India which has been systematically removed from the public memory calling it anti-Sikh riots.

In this video drawing from Bob Dylan's song "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," layers of experiences circling loss and longing are overlaid between images of landscapes and movement. In the song, a stranger's listlessness and exhaustion are woven through and around Juarez, Mexico, and so, too, are these stories woven around original discontent and uncertainty as they move through an uneasy negotiation with the strangeness of the American pioneer spirit.
