Schoolboy Jerôme Höffner, a brilliant nerd, is despised and pestered by his 'cool' classmates, except assertive immigrant Said, who protects him. Foppish mother Debbie Höffner's cool latest lover Marco Schmitz teaches his 'stepson' to fight back against bullies, but breaking Jan's nose in self-defense, Jerôme is forced in therapy with a child psychologist, who finds him a genius and recommends a mensa boarding school, but he willfully scores average on tests, fearing Debbie can't cope alone, until her clumsy attempts to offer enrichment privately frustrate him enough to visit, with Said, Dr. Kleybold's IQ school, which proves most tempting.

We will all have to deal with the possibilities and technologies that human genetics have to offer, today and in the coming years. Quite a few questions and dilemmas still have to be answered by us. Do I want to know everything that can be found out from my DNA? And who is allowed to use and read my genetic code? My doctor? The police? The chef of my favourite restaurant? Also, what genetic technologies do I want to use? Do I want to clone my dog, choose my children’s eye colour, or genetically modify them to give them extra talents? Do I want others in society to be allowed to do that? The current and future possibilities of human genetics are simply overwhelming. They are both promising and frightening, chilling and delightful.

Today, Silicon Valley is home to tech companies that are worth billions. But their beginnings were ad hoc, chaotic and revolutionary.

Clyde King, a toy store employee whose hobbies include making wooden toys and stalking women, is coveted by the female owner of one of the biggest toy companies in the world. She is enchanted by King's hand-carved toys, and she delegates the recruitment of the toy-maker to her second-in-command, Lyle "Skippy" Burns. However, King will not join her company as she reminds him of his mother. She becomes the subject of bizarre fantasies in which "Mother," the toy company owner as imagined by King, brow-beats and humiliates him. Discovering King's predeliction for leaving the toy store to stalk women, Skippy first tries to entice Clyde into signing an employemnt contract by supplying him with women, even going as far to dress himself up in drag as a prostitute. But every time he sets King up with a woman, the encounter ends disastrously, so Skippy finally decides to kill him.
