It's 1944. Since she's Jewish, young Lisa needs desperate measures to survive. Her parents send her to a childless couple's mansion, who protect Jewish children whose parents were sent or about to be sent to German camps. Twelve years later, Lisa is joined at her "French Catholic Home" by another Jewish girl, Claire. Claire comes to live with the French family, after her parents who did escape deportation and the death camps, are psychological wrecks, unable to raise her. The two girls begin a a close friendship, now 11 years after the end of World War II. But their friendship will bring old phantoms and secrets out of the closet, and will change their lives forever, revealing the truth about each one of them, and about the adoptive family.

Directed by Jacques de Baroncelli.
After twenty years, a group of friends meets to talk about cinema, like they always do. They haven’t grown older; on they contrary, they seem to look younger. They all still live in a world of their own, they refuse to be in touch with reality and express themselves by dropping names and pearls of wisdom. However, beyond this austerity, the portraits of funny characters emerge, humane and authentic in their own way.
The woman in the film returns to Beirut after many years of absence. Her return wasn't meant, she came to bury her mother. A walk at dawn leads her deep into the city which on its turn leads her to Abdallah, her past lover. But the gap of time, space and experience make this encounter impossible, or elsewhere.
In an isolated prairie home, a young girl shoulders the burden of caring for her three siblings and navigating a dysfunctional relationship with their mother.
Luc Lagier puts Alain Resnais' film back in its historical context and in the filmmaker's biography. He tells the story, then the development of what was originally intended to be a short documentary film and which turned into an unusual allegory. Composed of fascinating archives, including notably the correspondence between Duras and Resnais, this analysis of 'Hiroshima mon amour' manages to put the film in perspective while detaching itself from it. A rare and captivating work.
After twenty years in power, Vladimir Putin continues to implement his geopolitical strategy with Russia’s comeback on the big stage of world politics. He already announced his ambitions in 2007 – and still, it seems like the western governments were hit completely unprepared. What is behind this repeat of the Cold War?

Granny and her brother Uncle Thomas have watched the same soap opera, every day at the same time, since 1989. Twenty years after leaving Nice, I return to see them so they can fill me in on the 3827 episodes I've missed.
