My kind of people is an ITV television show presented by British entertainer Michael Barrymore broadcast in 1995. Barrymore travelled around the country in his customised sports car visiting shopping centres, where amateurs performed on a stage for the programme unrehearsed. The clip was viewed several million times after Boyle rose to prominence, with many viewers criticising Barrymore for his rude and disrespectful behaviour, unfavourably comparing his notoriety since with Boyle's then-newfound fame and vocal ability.
