When Killian, his childhood friend, dies and he hasn't seen him in 15 years, Ludo returns to the for 15 years, Ludo returns to the neighbourhood where they grew up to visit the mother of the deceased. As he spends the night there there, he remembers the last summer they spent together, in the shadow of the disturbing house next door.

Patrick Straumann's commentary "La Maison Fassbinder" is a scientific text and strongly based on French film semiotics as initiated by Christian Metz and thus indebted to structuralism in the tradition of De Saussure until Barthes and Levi-Strauss, searching in literature as well as in film recurrent topics, structural parallels, symmetries, Syntagmatic connections as well as paradigmatic variations.

The film began as a record of the painter Joseph Glin and his series of paintings inspired by "La Maison Des Mortes" by Guillaume Apollinaire. After filming Joe destroyed the paintings and closed his gallery, Shekhina, where the paintings were filmed.

One of the most popular Lebanese films of the late 1990s, Around the Pink House is a story that explores the changing urban landscape of Beirut after the Civil War. La maison rose (the pink house) is an old mansion in Beirut where the Nawfal family found shelter during the Civil War. Unfortunately for them, their immediate environment is rapidly changing, as many of the old shell-ridden buildings are being torn down and replaced by new construction projects. When Mattar, the owner of the pink house, decides to sell it to make room for a large commercial centre, the residents of the neighbourhood become divided between the shopkeepers and businessmen in favour of a different kind of modernity.

To escape the city's noise, a house flies away. As it floats around in space, the furniture escapes to furnish an apartment on the moon. This is the first French stop-motion animation film with computer-synthesised images and a 4X sound processor system.

Town trollop Safia, much against her better judgment, falls in love with Matteo, a beggar and mystic in the native quarter of Sirocco. She flees to France, first as the mistress and then wife of a wealthy archaeologist, and bears him Matteo's child, whom he believes to be his own. Complications arise years later when Matteo finds Safia, and a ring of blackmailers uncover her past and exposes her to her husband.
