What I find most intriguing is that people generally take the story to be a child's tale. For me, the film has always had an underlying darkness – an evil that runs deeper than the Wicked Witch and resides beneath the polished surface. In Once in a Lullaby, I strive to bring out this darkness and impart an altered version of Dorothy’s dream, which in this case is more of a beautiful nightmare. I recommend listening to it with a nice pair of headphones or versatile speakers."

A pregnant young woman, Alexandra, who begins to notice clues, which indicate the existence of another woman in her marriage, finally finds the mysterious woman is her younger self when their love was still fresh and vivid.

Lullabies is a false autobiography. A game that sometimes is blue or has no color. A story that, as Dominican conversations, won't finish its ideas and finds in onomatopoeias conclusions to its thoughts. A tale about a glance, a space, an action, or a love, but that definitely belongs to the boy that appears and disappears in the abstraction of a childhood memory.

The film intertwines historical events and intimate memories. I observe how architecture represents the transformations of society and those who give form to this architecture. We follow the journey of Munio, my father, born in 1909 in Silesia, Poland, the son of a tenant farmer of a Prussian junker. At the age of 18, Munio goes to Berlin and Dessau to meet Walter Gropius, Kandinsky and Paul Klee at the Bauhaus. In 1933, the Bauhaus was closed by the Nazis, who accused Munio of treason against the German people. Munio was imprisoned, then deported to Basel. He left for Palestine. Upon his arrival in Haifa, he began a career as an architect and adapted European modernist principles to the Middle East.

Adapted magnificently to the screen by the director Khoa Lê, the diptych serves both as an archive of research and creation work aborted by the constraints of an uncertain era and as a delicate and unique cinematographic object.

Sound/intoxication (Rauschen) is what the music video is about, say the artists, and the ecstatic (Rauschhaft). The German play on words actually makes sense in MY KINGDOM FOR A LULLABY #2; it suits a piece, in which electronically generated sounds and images are modulated and combined in a thoroughly sensorial or even ecstatic manner. The term «white noise» refers to both visual and acoustic elements. It is a prevailing theme in this video, an abstract piece, which requires that the viewer look and listen with utmost attention. On a white screen appear horizontal and vertical lines in delicate gray. First they alternate, then overlap, fade, then become more intense. The soundtrack plays a primary role, is equally as powerful (and elusive) as the images: a composition of crackling, noises (Rauschen), and whirring begins to emerge; music comprised of subtle electronic tones and high frequency distortion.

The chilling tale depicts the life of a young boy whose entire family was murdered in their house and he has since become mentally unstable. A few years later, the young boy believes that the death of his family was no accident and they had fallen victim to a demon who is coming back to finish what it did not all those years ago.
