"Le champ des visions" a documentary that addresses the relationship between man and animal-insect through stories, legends, memories, intimate sensations... I spent 4 years questioning the relationship between insect man. I filmed hundreds of hours of images, read captions, listened to stories, revisited my memories and my feelings to finally make a film: "Le champ des visions". This film is an invitation to share my encounter with beauty, strangeness, difference. Reporting on my personal quest is a tribute to gay knowledge. But it is also a manifesto for the freedom to slow down, to rediscover the child in us, its curiosity, its wonder. Let's cross the limits imposed by our senses, our habits, our prejudices to invigorate our sometimes sclerotic approach to the world...

Commissioned by French TV, Yorktown covers the bicentennial commemoration of the Siege of Yorktown, near the end of the American Revolutionary War, where the Americans and their French allies defeated the English. The festivities celebrating Franco-American friendship give Ophüls some amusement, as he takes a gleefully ironic look at the formally “friendly” meeting between Mitterand and Reagan, or exposes the absurdity of patriotic folklore.
A paean to Darwin and his theories, this documentary on the increasing complexity of life forms as they go up the evolutionary scale is fascinating in its visual images. Microscopic organisms in a tiny drop of water vie for the viewer's interest with birds and monkeys and other animals in their natural setting. Intelligence and awareness increase on the way toward more evolved species until it becomes clear that different kinds of apes and monkeys are fairly calculating in their use of tools and communication. One drawback is that the narration does not entertain on a par with the images captured on camera.
