Film Fire Is

The forgotten case of the arson of an ancestral tower in Peloponnese, Greece, comes to light with the discovery of a manuscript. The interreligious romance between Eleni and Elmaz-aga, close to the 1821 uprising against the Ottomans, and a parental curse, haunt the history of the family and of the village alike. The folk song of Eleni leads to the awakening of a past that resembles a fairytale.

There are things that are indescribable and unspeakable when the disasters that affect our lives are beyond comprehension. Certain fundamental experiences seem irreducible to any form of expression. So how do we convey their intensity? How do we put them into words? Here, we’re talking about the war inflicted on the Ukrainians for over a year. The film was filmed in Bibi-Heybat, a suburb of Baku (now the capital of Azerbaijan), during a fire at the Bibi-Heybat oil field. The film was shot on 35mm film by the Lumiere brothers in 1898. On August 2 of the same year, a demonstration of Alexander Michon's program took place, which included the film "Fire at an oil fountain in Bibiheybat".

Where the Fire Burns is a road story. Ayse who unexpectedly gets sick is taken for an operation urgently. Her family shows a great solidarity for this operation to happen. During the operation, it is found out that the girl is fourteen weeks pregnant. After the successful operation Ayse doesn’t tell who the father of her baby is. The family who tried to ‘‘keep her alive” is now trying to ‘‘kill” her. Osman the father who takes the responsibility to kill her takes a trip with Ayse. While Osman is trying to find a way to poison his daughter, Ayse doesn’t know that she will be killed. This trip of father and daughter continues on getting to know each other and emotion of regret.

Six months after losing their five years old daughter in a fire in the barn of their little farm, Jean and his wife Laure are facing troubles in their relationship and financial problems. Laure grieves the loss of their daughter and blames herself for her absence and Jean for his negligence for the fire; Jean is trying to rise from the ashes and somehow rebuild his life; and the insurance company refuses to pay the prize for the accident. Jean asks for a job in a mill to a friend to make money and support the psychiatric treatment of Laure. In his new job, he meets and becomes friend of the Kosovo refugee's siblings Kastriot and Labinota, while the Laure's sister Valérie separates them. Jean feels the passion of love and sense of life in his relationship with Labinota, who had her life destroyed with the war.
