The title refers to the ‘fence phenomenon’, which was first observed in 1821 by the Scottish publisher John Murray (J.M.) : the spokes of a wheel which are viewed in motion through a series of vertical bars, assume the optical illusion of a curvature of the spokes. Fences are an integral part of Russian culture. They love 3-meter fences in dachas and private homes. City streets are dotted with fences, which often only interfere with normal movement around the city. They like to isolate themselves from the world with an iron curtain. The film is a visual reflection and an attempt to answer the question why life in Russia is surrounded by a fence.

Maybe uncle Elenko is the most sincere, since he shows his feelings in a tragic moment when Misho gets on a roof of a construction site. However, why does he care for Misho end with him convincing him to go to the orphanage?

This wonderful Polish non-narrative animation takes as its theme the constriction and confinement in which we often find ourselves. Viewers will be able to consider when barriers and borders are and are not necessary.
