A lone scholar researches the visual and textual worlds of National Socialism. The film approaches a critical understanding of "German identity" from a multimedia perspective - off-screen commentary is superimposed over shots of paintings, literary quotations over feature film sequences and at the center of the film is a television debate on the subject of nature. The focus is on the German concept of "Heimat" and its connection to romantic notions of nature.

Today, the word "Auschwitz" is a synonym for the Holocaust. Thousands of Jews died there every day. With the help of some acted scenes, photos and graphics, the film tells of a day in May 1944. The starting point is a unique document: a photo album created by the SS perpetrators themselves. Almost all of the photos were taken at the end of May 1944, in just a few days. They show the cruel routine, the arrival of the victims, their "selection" on the ramp, the robbery of their property and the transformation of all those who were not immediately killed, into shaved, uniformed slaves. One survivor is Irina Weiss. On a photo she recognizes her little brothers and her mother - waiting unsuspectingly near the crematorium. The SS photographers captured all of this. Their identity is known today: one of them was Bernhard Walter, a "Stabsscharführer" who lived with his wife and three children near the extermination camp.

It's the largest Arctic expedition of all time. In September 2019 the German icebreaker "Polarstern" is on its way to the North Pole. The best scientists of their generation are on board. Their job are to collect data about the ocean, ice, atmosphere and life. The mission is to understand climate change, because the changes in the Arctic have an impact far beyond the region. The documentary provides spectacular close-ups of the MOSAiC expedition under the direction of the Alfred Wegener Institute together with the Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and shows the world of the Arctic during the polar night, from which hardly any data and images existed until now. A scientific, logistical and also human adventure of a community of researchers and crew members who let themselves be frozen with the ship for a year in the ice desert near the North Pole in order to use the natural drift of the ice, captured for the audience in impressive images.

Leskovich's trail leads via London to Switzerland, but thanks to Jimmy's lack of navigational skills, the friends first end up in Portugal...

Siebeck denies the crime and states that two people threw the victim in front of his truck at full speed. The more Maria Rohn looks into the case, the more she notices inconsistencies. Her husband Günther is also behaving more and more strangely. It seems that he was also involved in the accident...

Young lieutenant Riedel, the leader of a motorized unit of NVA riflemen, is always concerned about his men. Thus, he is all the more happy that everything is running smoothly with the new recruits when he returns from his honeymoon. It seems to him that lance corporal Weißenbach, who is not only the oldest of the men but also a formidable armoured personnel carrier driver, has been a reliable stand-in for him. Thus, Riedel is all the more surprised when he learns that Weißenbach boosts the squad's performance with partly questionable methods.

An angry, armed mob invades the Congress building to prevent Joe Biden from being officially confirmed as the winner of the 59th U.S. election and thus becoming the 46th President of the USA. The lie about Donald Trump's stolen election victory explodes into violence, five people die in the heart of U.S. democracy. The attackers' actions are documented almost completely, as is the helplessness of the security forces. Since then, most of the perpetrators have been identified and charged. But the rift in society continues. Many Republican congressmen remain with Trump, a renewed candidacy for the presidential election in 2024 is still possible. The attack on the U.S. Capitol leaves a shock with all convinced democrats. How could it possibly come this far? This documentary tries to reconstruct and analyze from very different perspectives.

The body of a young Mexican woman is found in the Main Valley, south of Würzburg. Inspector Peter Haller and his colleague Birgit Sacher are involved in solving the crime. Haller is not yet forty and was born in Würzburg. He has a quiet love for his city, for its clarity and familiarity. He will never fully understand how people can become criminals in such a beautiful environment. This is the secret drive behind his investigations, in which he is not just concerned with solving the case, but with looking into the soul of the perpetrator.
