The soap jumps out, and Pluto swallows it, hic-cupping soap bubbles as Mickey chases him. Pluto gets out, and the people on the street think Pluto is rabid and start hiding and throwing things at him. Dogcatcher Pete comes along, and prepares to shoot Pluto. Mickey catches up to him just in time. He tries pleading, then fighting, but they get away when Mickey throws a kitten into Pete's pants. This was a pilot episode for "Dog World" that I made for cartoon network. I brought Ryan Ridley in to help me write the pilot and it was a lot of fun to make. Looking at it now, there are quite a few things I'd adjust/ change/ simplify. Edmund as a character needs a lot of work. He needs to come off a bit more relatable. If anything, he should come across as the MOST relatable, because all he wants is to get the fuck out of dog world no matter what it takes. Wouldn't you want to get home if you ended up stranded in this place? I'd be out of my mind to get out of there.
I had/ have a ton of episode ideas for this series. I definitely plan do something with it later on down the road. I just had too many other things "in development" at the time and Dog World was moving forward about as fast as a redwood tree grows, so I decided to retain ownership and put it on the shelf.
Hot Dog is a Saturday morning documentary series for children, seen on NBC from September 12, 1970 to September 4, 1971. Created by Frank Buxton and co-produced by Buxton and Lee Mendelson, the program was notable for its hosts -- Jo Anne Worley, comedian Jonathan Winters and writer and actor Woody Allen. The pilot was televised on NBC March 28, 1970, which starred Worley, Allen and Tom Smothers, who was replaced with Winters when the show became a series.
Based on Buxton's travels as a comedian, which took him on tours to various factories, Hot Dog explained, in a humorous manner, how we do things and how things were made.
Seventy topics were covered during the course of this series, which lasted thirteen episodes and rerun the rest of the season. NBC won a Peabody award for the series in 1970.
Some of the music in this series was performed by The Youngbloods.
