Yellowknife is the drop off point for dogs that are rescued from harm in the Northwest Territories. Without adequate facilities to manage the flow of dogs that arrive there from communities throughout the north, the SPCA, in particular is strained to the limit.

In the second installment of the “Essentials of Dog Behavior” series, Cesar Millan builds on the foundation laid down by our understanding of dog socialization, and plunges deeper into how most unwanted behaviors can be corrected by understanding what our dogs are communicating. Do we really understand what dogs are “saying,” and if not, how can we bridge the gap between humans and dogs? In many cases, the crew finds, owners have left their cats and dogs behind to fend for themselves. The film-makers capture the lives of these strays – as well as the efforts of musicians who hope a thrilling concert will make a difference. What will become of these poor cats and dogs – and the people trying to help them?
