8-year-old Vicky has a mysterious gift: she can recreate any scent she comes across, even that of her beloved mother Joanne. When her estranged aunt Julia suddenly returns to town, the invocation of her fragrance plunges the young girl back in time to unravel a past replete with family secrets.

In this comedy, a run-down hotel drums up customers by sabotaging passing cars. The stuck motorists are then obliged to stay. Unfortunately, one of the sabotaged cars belongs to a bank robber. The hotel staff wants the robber out, but they also want to keep his ill-gotten money.

At the beginning of the scene Romeo in his gondola sings to Juliet a sentimental song, then goes away. Hardly has he departed when the colonnade falls to pieces, disclosing the devil. Juliet, frightened, runs to the window and calls Romeo. The latter attempts to enter and protect his fiancée, but at a gesture from the devil the window is instantly covered with a grating and Romeo makes frantic efforts to break it. In 1923, the young French writer Raymond Radiguet (1903-23) published The Devil in the Flesh, a novel that caused a great scandal by telling the story of the love affair between a married woman and a teenager in the middle of World War I.

Based on the novel by Victor Lavalle, the story focuses on Pepper, an angry but sane man who becomes an inmate at a mental institution in Queens, New York that also happens to be the home of a malicious Devil.
