The "Globe of Death" is a sensational, very dangerous circus act, which was popularized in the United States by Douglas Mac Valley. Mac Valley ended his days in Samoa, and he passed the baton to Bruno Loyale who has been presenting the "Globe of Death" in his Magic Circus of Samoa for thirty years. Within the Magic Circus of Samoa, three motorcycles compete in the metal globe. In 2019, for the first time a woman is at the helm: Yudy Serna Rodriguez is Colombian. In his family, all his brothers fly around the globe. She is the only girl. Her husband Sébastien Moreno Delgado is her partner in the globe. The third man is Brazilian. Together Yudy and Sébastien open and close the Magic Circus show, first with an aerial acrobatics number, then in the globe. They also rehearse a spectacular new number.

On 19 July 1965, the South-African poet Ingrid Jonker walked into the sea near Drieankerbaai in Cape Town at the age of 31. She left behind a little daughter and an oeuvre of three laurelled collections of poems. Jonker's work fell into oblivion, until on 25 May 1994 president Nelson Mandela opened the very first session of the first democratically elected parliament of South Africa with Jonker's poem Die kind wat dood geskiet is deur soldate by Nyanga, a poem from 1960 that refers to the demonstrations near Sharpeville. Mandela chose the poem for good reason; he called Jonker 'both an African and an Afrikaner'. A white person in South Africa cannot get a bigger compliment. In the documentary Korreltjie niks is my dood, director Saskia van Schaik reconstructs the poet's eventful life, making her powerful poetry with its South-African rhythm tell part of the story. Günter Grass (1927-2015) belonged to Group 47 from 1957 and became an internationally respected author of post-war German literature with his debut novel "The Tin Drum" (1959). His central motivation was the loss of his homeland, Gdansk, and his confrontation with the National Socialist past, which is reflected in many of his works. In 1999 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. In 2011, Dagmar Wittmers looked over Günter Grass's shoulder as he worked with his printer Fritz Margull or met his sister Waltraut. In Behlendorf and Lübeck, Grass looked back on his years in Paris, family life in Berlin, his time at the side of Willy Brandt, whose speeches he edited. Friends such as the Israeli writer Amos Oz or publisher Klaus Wagenbach, the actress Katharina Thalbach and his daughter Helene gave their views on Grass the man and artist.

When it left, death didn't even close our eyes centers on the testimonies of laborers working in Kosovo’s construction industry. They attest to how this precarious and unregulated labor market has serious human costs to those that have to seek its employment. Speaking of how they are expected to work hours—from 12, 13, 15, even up to 24 hours—and in conditions far beyond prescribed regulations or normal human expectations. One of the primary consequences is a high rate of injury, which then precludes future work in the industry—some workers even admit that they would rather face death than lose the ability to earn a living.
