The Go-Go's take Central Park by storm in this 2001 concert, their first live performance in decades. Serving up a pleasant mix of songs new and old -- including crowd-pleasers such as "Vacation," "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed," plus a raucous rendition of The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" -- Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine and Gina Schock prove they're still the "It" girls of pop-rock.
As the title of this French documentary indicates, Ce Siecle a 50 Ans examines the 20th Century at its halfway point. Utilizing the archives of several European film reserves, director Denise Tua offers a fascinating mosaic of the people and events that shaped the years 1900 to 1950. Complementing the vintage film clips are three dramatized sketches, delineating the romantic customs of three different points in time. These sketches are inadequately performed, and can easily be ignored. Ce Siecle a 50 Ans both preserved and provided celluloid material for scores of future documentaries.

In this clay animation, simple but lively clay dolls that viewers can't help but love run amok in real landscapes. They arise spontaneously from nowhere, touch themselves one by one as if to confirm the joy of life, and the sight of them moving around with their whole bodies overflowing with the joy of life is irrationally heart-warming. What makes this film even more deeply moving is that it also depicts death, which is the exact opposite of their sense of life and loveliness. The sincerity with which the characters try to accept the death of their beloved companions with all their might goes beyond the realm of character that tends to be described with the word 'cute', and is established as a rich drama. The exhilarating flight scenes and the music, which more than compensates for the dialogue, are also worthy of special mention.
