The film, a parody of the novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, follows a fisherman, Yves, who dreams of traveling by submarine to the bottom of the ocean, where he encounters both realistic and fanciful sea creatures, including a chorus of naiads played by dancers from the Théâtre du Châtelet. Méliès's design for the film includes cut-out sea animals patterned after Alphonse de Neuville's illustrations for Verne's novel.
Wu Xiao Qiao (Yun Xiang) and Chen Feng (Li Ping Chen) have been neighbors since young, coincidentally, both works in the same hamper company. Once the best of friends, they fell out over a man 20 years ago. Ever since, their friendship turned sour and they are now bitter enemies. Never at peace with each other, they are constantly fighting at home and at work, often implicating people around them, and causing many hilarious situations.

However, the oppressive culture symbolized by his father ultimately twists their relationship, and after an unexpected incident forces them apart, they reunite ten years later. It warmly portrays the transformation of feelings that start with innocent excitement into a deep love that embraces and heals each other's wounds.
