The film describes the suffering of a character who is renovating his house while being confronted with a monstrous bird which is terrorising and oppressing him. It should be read as a parable of the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. The film was subject to severe criticism at the 1970 Oberhausen film festival in Germany in 1970, in particular from directors from South American communist countries.

As time passes, nostalgia and loneliness creep upon the exiled youth. Decem remains trapped in recurrent nightmares of the past and continues to plunge into despair, living with a constant sense of peril. The challenges of living in the forest along with the wildfire in the mountains eventually make him reconsider the path ahead. Mirroring the disturbed youth’s inner turmoil with the sinister wild nature, the psychological drama relates the tormented state of the exiled body and soul.

An excellent display of how humans can rehabilitate and restore an area where a heavy industry polluted the water so severely that it was unsuitable to sustain any kind of life. A a film showing how birds returned to an environment once devastated by industry. The lakes around the northern Slovenian town of Velenje, placed in the Central Europe, are geographic center of the film. They emerged as the land above the lignite mines subsided and the depressions were filled with water. The mines started operating at the end of the 19th century. In the mid 20th century a power plant was built that caused a severe pollution of the lake waters to the extent of the lakes not being fit for any kind of life. As a consequence many birds moved from these parts. After a long ecological restoration that started in the mid 1980s, life returned to the water. Gradually the birds returned as well, including some there were previously never observed in this area.

Ruwaysched is a no man's land at the border. The last village in Jordan before Iraq... I went there without a real scenario. I was looking for a story for my film for a couple of days until Anne-Marie, the director of photography, played a song for me from an Iraqi-Palestinian band while our car stalled at the Iraqi border. He has participated in several directing workshops with filmmakers such as Abbas Kiarostami, José Luis Guerín, Luis Ospina, Oscar Campo, Rubén Mendoza, Jacques Toulemonde and Franco Lolli. He currently directs the narrative, documentary and audiovisual montage subject of the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication of the Politecnico Colombiano Jaime Isaza Cadavid.
