Based On A True Story

The young, ambitious Eva came to Vienna from Germany to study architecture. At the end of her studies she begins an internship in the office of the influential architect Andreas Hummel. Her everyday life now revolves around designing an art park, and in the process she gets to know the hierarchies of a male-dominated workplace. She observes the dynamics between the architects and gradually becomes part of the subtle power games.

"One of the two main threads running through it is this idea of failed utopia, as represented by the 'Fordlândia' title – the story of the rubber plantation Henry Ford established in the Amazon in 1920s, and his dreams of creating an idealized American town in the middle of the jungle complete with white picket fences, hamburgers and alcohol prohibition. One sluggish Sunday, Pien is urged by her mother to go and play hide-and-seek with her two younger half-brothers. They accidentally discover a family hiding in the deserted industrial zone: refugees. Eden and Hyunho, brother and sister, have now lived in hiding in the mountains for three years to avoid all EMFs: electromagnetic frequencies. Eden carries Hyunho back to the forest, sets up a tent in a safe place, lies his younger brother down, then sneaks into a nearby village to steal medicine from a pharmacy. On her way back to the woods, Eden is confronted by tall standing, never-ending, peculiar looking lights.
