The film stars two of Itami's regular actors, Nobuko Miyamoto as a geisha who brings luck to the men with whom she sleeps, and Masahiko Tsugawa as her unfaithful, sometimes partner. As well as showing her relationships with the man she loves and the men who employ her, it satirizes corruption and the influence of money in Japanese politics.

Four rabbits have been brought into a farm to live with four turtles and many other animals. Yet, the farmer seems to always favour the turtles, and it upsets the rabbits. The rabbits who have always wanted to avenge their ancestors, keep challenging the turtles to a race. Very much annoyed by the rabbits, the turtles ultimately accept the challenge. The animals pull out all the stops in order to win and to stay in the farm. However, through the rally, they will finally understand how valuable their friends are. Friendship is much more important than winning!

Produced for the "Favolistica Europeia" series, the film evokes sea voyages of Portuguese navigators at the beginning of the 16th century. It is one of the most ambitious works of this period of Portuguese animation and describes an Atlantic Ocean plunged into constant darkness and inhabited by terrible monsters that could sink any ship in its fearsome waves and bubbling waters.
