A Pilgrimage

PILGRIMAGE tells the inspiring story of how an abandoned WWII concentration camp for Japanese Americans has been transformed into a symbol of retrospection and solidarity for people of all ages, races and nationalities in our post 9/11 world.

Viewers are transported back in time to 1974 to see the annual Taoist celebration of the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage. Thousands of participants accompany a statue of the goddess Mazu, who protects seafarers, on a 9-day, 8-night procession, stopping at several prominent temples along the way. The religious pilgrimage is a round-way journey from the Zhenlan Temple in Dajia, Taichung City to Fengtian Temple in Xingang of Chiayi County on the Western plains of Taiwan. The mesmerising festival takes place every year during the third lunar month and still attracts large masses to this day. The audio track of the film was once banned under the Kuomintang (KMT) due to the film’s inclusion of spoken Hokkien (Taiwanese), giving viewers at the time an altered and suppressed understanding of the event and its cultural significance in Taiwan. Viewers now can revel in the beauty of the Taiwanese language and see the film for the true spirit that it captures.

"The Myth of the Heavenly Road Pilgrimage," is about a young man and woman, was filmed on location at Mt. Mihara on Izu Oshima. The music was composed by members of the "Taj Mahal Traveling Troupe. In 1971, he travelled to India, where there were almost no Japanese travellers at that time, and travelled through India and Nepal.

St. Joseph's Oratory, a picturesque shrine silhouetted against Mount Royal, draws pilgrims by the thousands every year. They come from California by Greyhound bus, from Vancouver by plane, and on foot from many parishes surrounding Montréal. What is the fame of this shrine, that it attracts the devout and the curious alike? The story is told by Brother Placide Vermandère of the Order of the Holy Cross, who was personally acquainted with Brother André, after whom the shrine's famous temple is named. Cameras follow a procession of the League of the Sacred Heart through the streets of the city to the famous sanctuary and show many of the religious observances conducted in the church, including Mass attended by invalids who come in the hope of being healed of various afflictions.

Since the 1920s, the Nurburgring Nordschleife and the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps have been the site of many famous races. Known to enthusiasts worldwide, these courses include some of the most difficult corners and challenging sections ever devised. A devotional love poem, a City Symphony. In 2011, Craig Baldwin drew me a map of the city of San Francisco. Over the years, the city became my spiritual home, and Craig became my mentor. In 2015 I rediscovered the map and decided to literalize it. For six months I walked the streets of San Francisco with a Bolex, clicking off frames, simulating the map, enacting every single circle, mark, straight line, etc… Part performance, part love letter, the film is a celebration of the City of my dreams. The Pilgrimage: a tale of the Camino de Santiago. The Camino de Santiago is an ancient pilgrimage that spans nearly a thousand kilometers across Spain. In 2010 over 300,000 people attempted the arduous walk - each individual in search for something. The Pilgrimage documentary is the story of two brothers seeking adventure, inner wisdom and peace of mind.

Depicts a spiritual journey of the Mother and the Daughter to the eternal sacred site. Both of them question their faith and relationship of another, while they are strangely monitored by the Prophet.

This time, the group is divided into Kansai and Kanto regions, and together with their guiding guest, they visit mysterious spots and also visit an accidental property that Tanishi Matsubara has never shown to the public.

Lulu, the bishop's daughter, and Tom, the Duke of Bilgewater's nephew, are in love and want to marry. Their relatives oppose the marriage, however, because Lulu's marriage contract with a curate has been signed and Tom is engaged to his ugly cousin, Lady Mary.
