A Dog Of Flanders

During his interminable rounds up hill and down dale, Jean-Luc delivers to his clients the bread he makes at night. The young baker, overwhelmed with work, has among his clients several unemployed people, who he takes time to listen to and advise. He looks for the right words to encourage the most resigned, and calm those who, at their wits’ end, use him to vent their anger. The film sometimes follows the efforts of the unemployed with the administration, sometimes their clash with the functionaries, who ask them to prove their family composition.

In the remote Bhutan, an undercover detective investigates the case of a missing Buddhist nun and falls into a risky alliance with his only suspect, an alluring young woman known as the village "demoness".

For five years, seven friends film their lives together and apart from each other. As time goes by, a film begins to emerge when this archive is revisited. A film shot through many hands, a reflection on creating images today.

Racial tension is running high in Bergen after a young black asylum seeker dies at the hands of the Police. In this short film, several dogs are being trained as patrol dogs. Their owners teach them the choreographies of police work: biting and letting go, following and staying, always on their owner's command. Longingly gazing upwards, the dogs seem intimately connected with their owners. They are tamed and domesticated; their life is directed by humans. At the same time they are always the elusive other. A gap divides humans and animals, and from the other side these dogs see us.

After 80 years, a crowd of animals and people gather in a majestic scene to mourn a dog, who lost his life during the Battle of Haifa in the Al-Kafrayn village by the Occupation forces.

Two twenty-year-olds meet each other in the sanatorium and fall in love. Ksenia is an alchoholic, Maxim is suicidal. This film is adapted from the real background of the search and rescue dog "Ding-Dang". It tells the story of Yang Qi, a fire fighter who retired early due to injury during an earthquake rescue, and was forced to reluctantly part with his search-and-rescue dog "Ding-Dang" who had been trained for many years. Years later, the search-and-rescue dog "Ding Dang" sneaked out of the recuperation base and became a stray dog. It spent his whole life looking for his original trainer, Yang Qi

When Grandpa is on his way home, he finds an abandoned puppy on the street. He takes it to his wife and it grows up on their farm.

With the core members Shin Sasakubo and Daisuke Aoki, as well as a revolving set of members depending on the contents of the work, the CHICHIBU AVANT-GARDE art collective engages in expressive activities such as music, film, art, photography, writing, and theater. Filmed in 8 mm film there is a distinctive color and texture, and a seemingly nostalgic impression from the land pattern of Chichibu that is the stage, but it has an unknown sense of apprehension. A variety of emotions and scenes come to light, such as a sense of frustration, relief or fear, some kind of madness, or warmth.

Moscow, summer of 1953. Tanya, an eleven-year old girl, meets a boy, Mitya. Mitya and his family have just returned from exile in the Russian Far East. Tanya learns that Mitya had to leave behind his best friend, a dog called Hector. Mitya is eager for Hector to join him in Moscow, but the adults declare it impossible - a large city is no place for a dog. In an attempt to prove the adults wrong and convince them to bring over Hector, Mitya and Tanya decide to create the perfect home for him - a dog's paradise in an empty sealed room they find in the building...

A local ruler bows down to the pressure from democratic forces and is forced to hand over a part of his province to a democratically elected leader. He also presents his pet dog to a poor peasant and his wife. For the poor peasant and his wife, the dog is not a mere dog, but a symbol of the royalty which had always inspired in them feelings of respect, admiration and blind worship. They bathe the dog in a very ceremonious manner and take much care of it. They even desist from tying it up. But when the dog bites and kills a duck and then a boy, it leads to problems. The democratic leader orders the arrest of the dog, followed by the arrest of the poor peasant. Then follow protests, talks, negotiations leading to more interesting developments.

The film consists of four stories about four different dogs and their owners' lives, reflecting love, life and departure.

The bell tower rings and the birds fly away. In the countryside on the outskirts of a small village, a dog tied to a very long rope, watches them disappear in the horizon. It’s time for him to go. Prance across fields. How far will his rope allow him to go?
