A Day To Die

Originally created as an installation for the third Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale this film is a gripping diary and travelogue of a trip the filmmaker made through India. She tries to grasp India’s love and thoughts, the sentiments and everyday conditions and the experience of disease and death.

Thứ, a teacher in an impoverished village of French occupied Vietnam, witnesses the daily tragedies and hardships his neighborhood has to endure. A joint adaptation of three of Nam Cao's classic works: the short stories "Chi Pheo", "Old Hạc" (Lão Hạc) and the novel "Corroded Life" (Sống mòn).

Maya is a teenage girl with teenage problems, suffering with her self-esteem and dealing with her bully Pedro, that she's deeply in love with. Luckily her grandmother gifted Maya with a magical coin called ZAHIR, that will solve all of her problems...or make things way worse.

After the outbreak of the war with Japan, all Beijing universities were closed or bombed. A group of young students, aged 18 or 19, set off in a hurry, moving south on foot, crossing Xiangqian and Yunnan, and eventually forming a temporary university on the Kunming plateau - the Southwest Union University, a joint venture between Tsinghua, Peking University and Nankai. They crossed a city to listen to the "best Chinese language class ever", to listen to Toselli's "Serenade", and to join the Flying Tigers. For these "post-90s" seniors, who are now in their nineties, SWU is not a dusty piece of history, but a memory of youth that is still as fresh as ever. Yang Zhenning, Xu Yuanchong, Pan Jiluan, Yang Coix, Wang Xiji and Ma Zhitu - 16 students of the University with an average age of over 96 years old are cast together to take you back to a time when war was raging and stars were shining.

A goldfish in a tank, taken care of only by the protagonist, dies, and only then do the students feel sorry for it. In this world, people will be kind to you only when you die. Anne, ignored by her classmates, attends classes on the verge of breakdown, but when she meets Aina, who feels the same way, she smiles again.

Fran and Verka are the sole inhabitants of Vërnakollë - the place they first met many years ago, got married and have been living ever since. After the 1999 war in Kosovo, everyone but Fran and Verka left the village. Their story is a testament to the unbreakable bonds that tie us to what we call home and to where we belong.

Moussa, who had been on a long journey across the desert, suddenly returns to the village one day, and the creditors who loaned him travel money come with dissatisfaction. When a young, beautiful but poor Awa announces that she will marry her wealthy Kareem, her lover Karim decides to take revenge on her birthday. Memories of her unforgettable past come back to a woman, along with her longing for her lost son.

Taichi watches as his uncle's wife and co-worker, Kumiko, struggle with a troubled marriage. Kumiko finally decided to divorce her uncle. Taichi feels his body heat up as he comforts her own little mother. Eventually, the two begin to covet each other while riding the heated atmosphere.

The final night of the tournament took place on August 18, 2022, at Nippon Budokan in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

From the massacre of Koreans at the construction site of the Nakatsugawa hydroelectric power plant in Niigata Prefecture and the joint struggle of Korean and Japanese factory girls at the Kishiwada cotton mills to the dispute at the Sanshin Railroad construction site in Aichi Prefecture and the strike at the Aso coal mines in the Chikuho region of Kyushu, this film uncovers and assembles valuable testimony from many people who played key roles in the movement to free Korea from Japanese colonialism.

What happened in Rwanda in 1994 was not simply the spontaneous eruption of inter-ethnic hatred. It was planned genocide, on an industrial scale. Something that was prepared for at least a year in advance. Lists were made. Weapons were collected. RTLM radio spent months conditioning their audience to believe that one sector of their population represented a threat.
