The films of pre-eminent documentary filmmaker Heinz Emigholz present the most important architects of the 20th century not through explanation or biography, but by using the camera to reveal the structures that define their art. From Bruce Goff’s churches to Gabriele D’Annunzio’s villas to Robert Maillart’s bridges, each exploratory and contemplative film is dedicated to the work of a single architect; taken together, the series shows us some of the most beautiful buildings of our time.

Bella is a single mother business and mother trapped in the normal everyday insanity. Nevertheless, she is happy. But from now on, everything gets out of hand. The house, in which the elderly-shared apartment of Bella's father and their own physiotherapy practice are located, is to be sold and renovated. Bella would not be Bella if she was not determined and would fight with all her might against the injustice and sale of the house. But as she juggles with family, her practice, PR campaigns, demos and squatters, Bella needs to realize that even her power is not endless.

The visit, in a hypnotic circular movement leading up to a final upward vertical one, starts with various photos of Hilst (taken by Fernando de Lemos and preserved in the house’s archival estate) to the sound of excerpts of her work read by Brazilian poet Júlia de Carvalho Hansen, with the purpose of enhancing the reflection on issues of sexuality and colonialism present in the political and poetic militancy of the Brazilian writer’s work.

A couple receives a letter of eviction: they must leave their home in Trento within 60 days. They are two political refugees: he is Afghan and she is of Iranian origin. They have a 10-year-old son, Sepanta, who grew up in Italy, and has no memory of his grandparents, either paternal or maternal. They decide to dedicate these 60 days to their son, to offer him a different idea of home, and thus undertake a journey to his mother's native country. But an unexpected event upsets the plans.

Casa Loma was the unfinished dream mansion of Canadian industrial magnate Henry Pellatt. A self-made millionaire, Pellatt was derided by fellow aristocrats for nouveau-riche pretentions: the house and its décor considered by many an ornate fake. Its original contents were sold at Pellatt’s bankruptcy auction in 1924. Today the building is a museum. The movie has three sections—the first in a cellar tunnel, the next in a first-story workroom near the stables, the third in the tower’s summit.
