Who Are You

In this excoriating satire of the fashion industry, Polly Maggoo is a 20-year-old Brooklyn-born fashion model in Paris, on the runway at the big shows where magazine editor Ms. Maxwell is the reigning opinion maker. The ridiculous passes for sublime. Polly becomes the subject of an episode of a vapid TV news documentary series called "Qui êtes-vous?" and is pursued by the filmmaker and by the prince of Borodine, a small country in the Soviet bloc.

He has an instant reaction and an accurate eye, strong muscles and a cold mind. His friends call him simply Ellie, and the "fathers of the city" are behind him, as if behind a stone wall. However, he is not the master of his fate either...

Nida is a single mother who takes care of her anti-social son who has locked himself in his room for five years. The only way to communicate with her son is to write on a piece of paper and slip it under the door. But, when outsiders start to get curious about what is going on behind the door of her son's room, a series of terrible events starts to happen.

While working in the leisurely atmosphere at a food company's factory, Futaro is asked to return to their corporate headquarters by his good friend. Unfortunately, he finds himself assistant to Izumi, a highly demanding expert on Italian food culture. Futaro gets off to a rocky start with his new female boss, and always seems to be saying or doing the wrong thing. He also doesn't seem to be particularly suited to his new position on the Italian Restaurant Project, considering he doesn't even like tomatoes! But Futaro may still have a few tricks left up his sleeve that he can use to win over Izumi and find success in his new job.

Who do you think you are? is a program full of psychological, social and physical experiments with a good dose of humor. Rob Urgert and Joep van Deudekom always subject two groups of people who are opposite each other in society to scientific, but often hilarious experiments, to gain more insight into their differences.

"Who are you?" is an audiovisual work made up of images and sounds that surface after haptic and scopic experiments have taken place. I find myself stitching hums, vibrations, colours, shapes, repetition and rhythms that invoke an inquiry inward.

The person questioned then names the family members of his clan, upon which the person asking is sure to know his opposite. The two of them are inevitably related, at the very least seven or eight generations back. Studying family history and family trees has always been something of a national sport in Iceland, much more popular than in other countries. This documentary film examines the various aspects and effects of family connections on Iceland and accompanies the filmmaker on his quest for his own Icelandic roots.

More troubles arise when Chen Bi Da's company starts facing dangers and the real Gao Wen Ming wakes up in Chen Bi Da's body...
