Hilligje Kok is a deeply religious but free spirited woman in Staphorst, a village located in the Dutch “Bible Belt”. With passion and humor, Hilligje seeks to improve the position of women within her church as well as in the orthodox Christian political party SGP. But a visit by Hilligje’s gay son Willem brings her off balance. Why did she not show up at his wedding? Hilligje’s well-intended struggle for equality is now putting at risk her friendships, family relationships as well as her position within the congregation.

Brilliant but tormented Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is profiled through his art, his letters and expert commentary in this engrossing documentary. Famous for his thick, swirling brushstrokes, van Gogh -- the son of a pastor -- battled frequent bouts of madness throughout his short life and committed suicide at age 37. Though he was once the quintessential starving artist, his masterpieces now fetch millions of dollars.

Amateur footage, filming of dubious origin, chromatic alterations and hard-core details in an alienating and curious collage with sinister and gloomy voices reciting poems of the beat generation.

Stand-up comedian Ronald Goedemondt converts his daily experience as a man in his forties into astute humor about fatherhood and aging.

The story of Van Gogh's life is all in his paintings and it is the story of a soul in torment. By way of the Dutch works of that period the documentary shows how the artist confronted with those dark skies and that hostile climate, felt the irresistible urge of flight that was to lead him to Paris. With the picture of his Parisian period, Van Gogh's divisionist experience reveals the painter's attempts to find a climate that was conductive to his poetic requirements.

In glorious stop motion pixilation an artist (David Russo) applies for a grant to make the film that we are watching. It unfolds as he describes it. The grant committee is not impressed.
