One-of-a-kind film, photographs and audio recordings were found in a private collection in Prague. This material documents life in the Theresienstadt concentration camp from the perspective of a woman who would now be 124 years old.

It is said that a wolf roams in the Park of La Favorita in Palermo. No one has ever really seen it. Yet people swear they heard it howling at night. Is it a fantasy? Is it an expression of superstitions and tales? Many stray dogs live in the park. Two sisters take care of them every day. Among the thick branches and crowns, certain people hand secrets out, kids play hide-and-seek, runners pass by and some prostitutes wait for sporadic clients in the sunlight. At night the scenery changes: the tones become more confidential and in the dark, intimacy, life stories, obsessions and memories of those seeking refuge in the park, resound among the branches.

Countless stone statues of Buddha without their heads have overwhelmed visitors at Nihonji Temple in Nokogiriyama. These statues are not only the religious idols but also a unique installation arts. There are various views of the reason why the statues had been cut off their heads. Some say it was because of movements of abolish Buddhism in the Meiji restoration. And others say it was because of the superstition that your wish would come true if you could find the statues similar to someone you like, cut its head off and hold a memorial service. Ether Reveries (Suite for Thérèse Rivière no.2) takes as its starting point the work and life of Thérèse Rivière (1901–1970), a French anthropologist whose remarkable working life was cut short following her confinement in psychiatric institutions.

It also presents men and women who from La Chorrera, Bojayá, San Carlos, the banks of the Carare River, Valle Encantado and Medellín say that Colombia cannot allow the atrocity they witnessed to be repeated.

Winter which was not there’ can be seen as a metaphor for the liberation of an individual from his or her own history. In the film, a man watches a monumental concrete sculpture of a man being hoisted out of the sea. The sculpture is clearly reminiscent of a classic heroic monument but in a strange, and somewhat uncanny way, the face and figure of the sculpture look amazingly like the man who’s watching it rise out of the sea.

For them, Jewish identity is a daily urgent challenge; if they don’t personally uphold their communities and live affirmative Jewish lives, they and their legacies could fade away forever.
