A day in a seaside town.

A disgruntled Uncle Sam complains that nobody listens to him anymore, and what's more, he doesn't even know what's going on up there. "I thought we were living on the top floor," he mutters. He expedites the ubiquitous Marshall Efron on a fact-finding mission north of the border. Part satire, part serious, this film sets out to package Canada for American consumption, with some of the clichés thrown in. Contrasting with the decidedly lighter side of the film are interviews with well-known Canadians such as Marshall McLuhan, Mordecai Richler, Margaret Atwood, John Kenneth Galbraith, Raoul Duguay, and Pierre Bourgault.

In the early morning of December 15, 1938, Chkalov arrived at the Khodynka airfield – a new I-180 fighter was to be tested for takeoff. In the flight task it was written - to go one lap and return to the airfield. But Valery Chkalov decided to go on the second lap, and the engine stalled ...Chkalov tried hard to start the engine, but it was useless. There is only one way out – to plan for the airfield and go to the landing. Until the last second, he tried to save the plane... There are many versions about Chkalov's death, but none of them clarifies the situation to the end. The life and death of Chkalov is the story of an unusual pilot who always tried to act contrary to the rules and orders, to go beyond the limits of the possible. Such was the character.

Samuel Muxingueno escapes from conflict areas in eastern Angola, and seeks shelter in Luanda. Here, his main enemy becomes his own shadow. Seeking to get rid of it, Samuel turns to life in the darkness of a deserted building. To be able to get back into the light, he makes a radical decision.

‘I’m Just Lying There’ is a ficto-memoir about the filmmaker’s teenage relationship with her first boyfriend, a 36 year old man who was a pedophile. Through poems and pop songs, the film brings back memories of their grown-up dates. Having dinner at a restaurant for the first time without parents, or being picked up from her birthday in his Mercedes. The coming of age film looks at the shaping experiences in which the female body is first subjected to the male gaze, and therefore becomes an object of desire. The protagonist, who is 14 years old at the time of their affair, is pulled towards the sensual experiences of being with this man, and simultaneously feels the danger in these experiences. There’s a sense of dissolution of the self. She uses her intellect to separate and watch over the body she owns, a detachment strategy, whereby the scene appears to us in birds-eye-view. The bird, a raven with a scratch on her beak, accompanies us.
