Hollywood in Vienna« invited to an unforgettable musical journey to the fantastic vastness of space and time and honored the versatile Hollywood composer Alexandre Desplat. The music of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY lead us to outer space and made us experience its infinite dimension. INTERSTELLAR, between the stars, we entered the infamous, global STAR WARS and were rescued by STAR TREK's spaceship »Enterprise«, leading us to faraway musical galaxies, where no man has gone, before. We got in CONTACT with extraterrestrials, GRAVITY pulled us back to earth and, finally, we fulfilled E.T.'s wish, to phone home. Within the second part of the concert, we honored the Oscar-, Golden Globe and Grammy winner Alexandre Desplat. His atmospheric melodies for HARRY POTTER, TWILIGHT, THE KING’S SPEECH, THE IMITATION GAME And THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL amongst others let us virtually float through the universe.

As they play carefree music, their musicianship is met with surprise, wonder, and sometimes even laughter. Captivating all who watch, Otoasobi Project’s rich variety of expression reshapes the concept of improvised music. Formed in 2005 in Kobe, Japan, Otoasobi Project has some 50 members, including people with intellectual disabilities, musicians, and music therapists, who pursue music and well-being through improvised performances. After many years of numerous workshops, concerts, and other activities, they even held their first tour in the UK in September 2013. The movie “Whereabouts of Sound” depicts the appeal of the improvised music Otoasobi creates, and the beauty of its natural, honest expression.

A three-act film-essay about memory and the historical-cultural ties of the Finno- Ugric peoples. the ear goes to the sound: the work of Laetitia Sonami is a film portrait of the French born, Oakland based electronic sound artist Laetitia Sonami. Sonami, a student of the pioneering sound composer Eliane Radigue, is perhaps best known for her Lady's Glove instrument, which controls sounds and mechanical objects with gestures of the hand. This documentary offers an intimate look at one of the most extraordinary, yet underappreciated electronic sound artists of today, and is structured around an intricate combination of performance and in-studio demonstration.
