The Queens That Changed The World

The story is set four years after the first story-line and revolves around Annelotte, the rebelling knight princess who stands up to the tyranny of the new queen.

At the deathbed of his used-to-be militant mother an older man looks back at his childhood, when he was in love with his sensual aunt Coleta.

The legendary life of Mexican singer Lucha Reyes is the basis of this fictionalized biography ( or as director Arturo Ripstein puts it "an imaginary biography"). Lucha Reyes was an unconventional, and sexually liberated woman, most famous for her "cancion ranchera" style singing. Her story begins in 1939, where at 33 she still lived at home with her mother, Dona Victora, the madame of a renowned Mexico City whorehouse. Lucha marries the liberal Pedro Calderon and then buys a beggar's daughter. She becomes the mother to this child, Luzma. Lucha craves lasting love like junkies crave heroin. But for her loyal daughter, she never finds it and in the end no one can help her.

The king of Nogara dies, leaving behind a will naming one of his nieces as his successor. Will it be blonde and virtuous Isabella or evil, dark-haired Malva? Each woman relies on a hero to locate the will. Malva hires the bare-chested strongman Samson while Isabella relies on the masked El Toro (a.k.a. Zorro) even though her heart belongs to the mild-mannered poet, Ramon. Malva's ruthless desire for the throne soon alienates Samson and he and El Toro then team up to bring about a proper resolution to the Nogara succession. Meanwhile, Isabella learns El Toto's true identity, an identity which both surprises and pleases her.

Hermann is an officer of the engineers in the Imperial Russian Army. He constantly watches the other officers gamble, but never plays himself. One night, Tomsky tells a story about his grandmother, an elderly countess. Many years ago, in France, she lost a fortune at cards, and then won it back with the secret of the three winning cards, which she learned from the notorious Count of St. Germain. Hermann becomes obsessed with obtaining the secret.

Amel and her family learn that their landlord wants to get his apartment back in a few months. While Mouna, her eldest daughter, begins to have visions of Charles Martel, and their request for new social housing drags on, Amel has no choice but to reinvent herself.

The events take place in a comedic context, where a businesswoman named (Magda) is exposed to many harassments, but she survives her enemies’ attempts to harm her, and is able to obtain her full rights from them.

Armed soldiers, thirsty and lost, run into the mysterious Sheila, who claims to be able to guide them to safety.

Ji-min is married to Hyeon-soo, a married man with a child. However, Woo-yeong wasn't Hyeon-soo's own son either. The age difference is so small that she feels uncomfortable in her relationship with Woo-yeong. On the other hand, Woo-yeong falls into a sense of self-doubt that she feels love from Ji-min and that feeling from her mother, but accidentally finds out that she is an adopted child and confesses her heart to Ji-min.

The adventurer Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy, descendant (by the left hand) of the king of France Henri II, and who claims to be "Countess de la Motte", imagines a tortuous plan to steal a magnificent diamond necklace that the queen Marie-Antoinette refused to buy from the jewelers Boehmer and Bassange.

Riku Haneda, a 20-year-old university student who aspires to be a novelist, is bewildered by the sudden marriage of his older sister Ayaka, but then he finds a flyer for a “New Writer Discovery Contest.” The grand prize is 1 million yen! He quickly decides to take on the challenge, but the theme is “love,” something Riku lacks experience in.
