FILM ABOUT THE PRICE OF SUCCESS. The story revolves around 10-year-old Martina, who is a dancer. At such a fragile age, she has to cope with her ambitious mother, whose aim is to make Martina champion of Bulgaria. Fortunately, she meets Victor - her new coach, he is an ex-dancer, trying to escape from his past. The film reveals the world of dancesport - the kingdom of glory and beauty, but also its immoral side and dark secrets.

It all starts with the disturbing image of a heart as a symbol of life, along with a compulsive rhythm of systole and diastole. Both serving as engine for starting to delve into the family memories, the social conventions, the existence and its opposite. Produced and edited, quite literally, with an open heart.

In the early days of the revolution, three young cameramen working for the National TV take their cameras out on to the streets of Tehran to capture the people’s revolution. This documentary covers the revolutionary events from 8 September 1978 to February 1979, using a politically strident voiceover narration, which does not match the relatively evenhanded visuals and editing.

Joan Nestle is the founder of the Lesbian Herstory Archives in New York City. This documentary traces her life; finding her community in Greenwich Village in the 1950s, celebrating the body in her writings and in her public readings in her black slip, having a lesbian archives in her home for 25 years, participating in the Black civil rights movement as a freedom rider, becoming a feminist, and helping to forge a new queer consciousness through grass roots organizing. This 2002 documentary features interviews with Joan in her sixties, as she continues to celebrate the body as an aging woman and as a woman with cancer.

Lisetta, the daughter of a fisherman, lives with her father and brother on the island of Capri. When Serrani, an Italian who has grown wealthy in New York, visits the island, he induces Lisetta to accompany him to America. There he abandons her and she becomes a dancer in an underworld café owned by "Dago" Joe, where she meets the artist Stanford Graham, who employs her as a model. Meanwhile, Lisetta's brother Domenic comes to New York to avenge his sister's dishonor.

Artistically ruined by an early exposure to the films of John Waters, Hughes churned out a sleazy body of work on his weekly suspense anthology Heart Attack Theatre on Seattle's public access TV.
