The Cow

In the mistaken belief that he has killed a cab driver, a dissipated Eastern scion flees West in this inventive silent Western starring former football hero Maurice "Lefty" Flynn and based on an original story by Darryl F. Zanuck. Charles Christoper Meredyth, Jr. -- known to his friends as "Gallop" -- arrives in a small Southwestern town owned by inventor Granville Truce (Charles Crockett). The only other inhabitants are Truce's pretty daughter, Pauline (Gloria Grey), and a gang of Mexican bandits.

Alec Lloyd, the foreman of the Sewell ranch, is nicknamed "Cupid" because of his propensity for matchmaking. When Macie Sewell returns from boarding school, Cupid himself falls victim to love, but Macie has aspirations to go to New York and become an opera singer, and so ignores his advances. However, Leroy Simpson, a poor doctor who is enamored of Macie's father's money, encourages her ambitions....

The adventures of Calamity the cow, who is bought by a farmer for his children, stolen by rustlers, and eventually wins a prize for her part in ridding the area of a gang of cattle thieves.

A rancher, smitten with a pretty young girl he meets, hires himself out to her as a chauffeur, only to find out that she's on her way to his ranch. In order not to look foolish he keeps up the pretense, but his crooked ranch foreman eventually brings matters to a head.

THE ONTOLOGICAL COWBOY documents Foreman’s invocation of the "manifest destiny" of the avant-garde theater, King Cowboy Rufus strolling down off San Juan Hill with a sigh, waving his handkerchief. Foreman plays himself, and the cast pantomimes his preoccupations. If "the cast and crew suffer alike," it’s all for a good cause: the violent rebirth of the American theater, with Foreman as its midwife.

In 2010, this film started out as an ordinary documentary about the maker's family and the city of Salamya where they come from. However, it immediately fixates on its first subject: Hassan, the maker's farmer cousin with a shed full of cows he is very fond of. When Ali Sheikh Khudr returned two years later, the war proved to have inflicted deep wounds.

This project was initiated in the winter of 2020 and lasted about two years. I was compelled to investigate the relationship between my body and animal bodies, especially those who are physically larger than myself, and who are not pets but rather those who live amongst their kind. Therefore my interactions with them were not based on a pre condition of habits such as petting or mutual care seeking. If there was touch or closeness, they were of a non scripted and unexpected nature. In the process of making this film I used a GoPro camera for its small size and because it doesn’t need to be held while shooting, so that the camera could be placed in various positions in relation to the animals bodies. This way I could capture the subjects from up close without causing them distress.

Both Nolan and Ross are losing cattle and Ross' foreman Kerns is the culprit. When Taylor finds a wanted poster of Kerns he goes after him.

Shot on location in South Texas, this moving documentary pays homage to a breed of men that history has overlooked as they continue a trade from an era gone by.

Tolen is after the Harkins ranch where his men have found gold. After they kill Harkins, Dorothy and Dick step in and discover that the gold actually washes down from Tolen's own ranch. When Harkins' brother arrives to take over they test Tolen by having the brother offer to swap ranches.
