The Collec

When a lonely grim reaper who's invisible to the living found out that a stray dog could see him, he reevaluates his longing to be recognized by humans.

Four paintings by David Hockney painted in theperiod 1965-1972 was the starting point for this short. The result is a seriesof beautiful tableaus that captures the period setting in a new way.

For an indeterminate period of time, the magnetized metal collector takes a daily walk through the streets and gradually builds up a coat mad of any metallic residue lying in its path. This process goes on until the collector is completely covered by its trophies.

A feature film comprised of 24 short stories THE COLLECTION was made by filmmaker Bruno de Almeida and a group of new york city actors and writers from May 2001 to December 2005 under a project called the DV Workshop. Shot with a digital camera and edited on a home computer these films were shown on this website as they were being made, as a work in progress. The project came to it's conclusion on December 2005 with screenings in New York City and Lisbon.

Logan's grandfather designs a game specifically for him, called "The Collectors," which gives him a glimpse at the adventure and athleticism he longs for. But Logan soon encounters danger and intrigue as the barriers between his real and virtual lives seem to break down.

Over the course of more than two decades, Birmingham's UB40 have become global ambassadors for reggae, a journey captured perfectly on The Collection. This programme is split into two main sections: a 26-track video collection and a documentary detailing their 20th anniversary concert in September 2001. Forgoing chronology in favour of a more random approach, the video selection is slightly disjointed on a visual level, leaping from decade to decade within the space of a couple of tracks. While they have never made a truly great video (most feature the band lip-synching in various places around the world) UB40 have certainly been prolific over the years. "One In Ten" and "Food for Thought", their earliest work, represented the sound of young, multicultural Britain just as well as the more lauded Specials. And while there have perhaps been a few too many covers in recent times, it is hard to deny the effectiveness of "Red, Red Wine" and "Kingston Town".
