Good Old Days

In an antique shop, the value of each item is the story behind them. People who sell their belongings here can reminisce on their lives, and buyers see their value hidden within. Six stories about memories, love, dreams and separation are linked to six items.

The Good Old Days was a popular BBC television light entertainment programme which ran from 1953 to 1983.It was performed at the Leeds City Varieties and recreated an authentic atmosphere of the Victorian–Edwardian music hall with songs and sketches of the era performed by present-day performers in the style of the original artistes.The audience dressed in period costume and joined in the singing, especially "Down at the Old Bull and Bush" which closed the show.

It keeps pace with time and ends when the end is near.

The king pays too much attention to the sweetheart of a country bumpkin who shows his resentment by chasing his royal highness with a pistol and perforating the royal legs. The king takes refuge in the top of a tree, from which ignominious position he is finally rescued by his courtiers. In consideration of the bumpkin promising not to tell the queen of this latest escapade, the king grants the petition of his subjects.

Life in mid-century America is humorously compared to life at the turn of the century. Subject covered are keeping accurate time, proposing marriage, waking up in the morning, and going to the movies.
