Don Genaro is an elderly man with a degenerative disease that affects his memory. Admitted to an asylum, his only pastime is looking at photographs of some children, trying to recall who they are.

This 40 minute film - distilled from over 40 hours of video (shot over a period of 18 months)as part of the AHRC/Beyond Text funded project Children’s Playground Games and Songs in the New Media Age - provides an insight into the playground culture in two primary schools in Sheffield and London. Drawing on visual ethnography and observational methods and inspired by film makers such as Fred Wiseman, the film documents playground cultures as they were at the moment of shooting and supplements this observation with both formal and ad hoc interviews in which children discuss their games and play. The film provides a direct insight into the play cultures of children, without romanticising or aestheticising it, or providing an explanatory voice over. Through doing this, it demonstrates, contrary to some opinion, that children are articulate and knowledgeable about their own environment and culture. Magus(re)Genesis is a collaborative film and music performance piece by filmmaker, Jaimz Asmundson and musician, Jeremy Pillipow. The performance deconstructs their two previous film collaborations (Drawing Genesis and The Magus) into an improvised, live multi-channel, full-dimensional experience.

Created at Bell Labs in 1965, this short film likely contains the first computer-generated animation of human figures in motion. The figures move (or 'dance') seemingly at random on a 3D stage.

The thematic starting point for Cosmic Generator is a tunnel system that establishes a trading connection between various places and actors, among them the Mexican city of Mexicali and Calexico, the Californian town on the other side of the border fence. Rumour has it that the entrance to the system can be accessed via shops and restaurants in La Chinesca, Mexicali’s Chinatown. In her montage Rottenberg links footage from the local Golden Dragon Restaurant with a 99 Cents Store in Calexico and an enormous plastic commodities market in Yiwu, China. The Yiwu Market plays a pivotal role in this imaginary network peopled by a group of rather strange characters. With its artificial blaze of colours it seems like a gigantic staged performance in itself.
