Raised by a loving family of condors, little John John grows up thinking that he, too, is a condor, despite the fact that he looks nothing like his parents. Turns out, John John is no ordinary bird. In fact, he's really an honest-to-goodness dragon! After developing his fire-breathing powers, John John flies off on an adventure to find the dragon kingdom and his real family in this charming animated fantasy.

He challenges the Grand-master who has a checkered past of his own. The Grand-master happens to suffers from a terminal chronic injury related to his evil past. The traitor kills the grand-master, causing his wife and son the go into hiding. The wife seems to really be the Dragon Claw master in the family and she vows to train her son the kung fu secrets. The son finds that one of his friends has learned a strange style of kung fu from a filthy medicine man. The son seeks him out to improve his kung fu and defeat the traitor.

Serendipity the Pink Dragon is a 26-episode anime TV series produced by NTV and Zuiyo which aired weekly from 1 July 1983 to 23 December 1983 in Japan. The series was based on the Serendipity books by Stephen Cosgrove. After a boy is shipwrecked on a deserted island, he finds a pink egg which hatches into the pink dragon Serendipity. The series follows their adventures on the island. A feature-length English dub consisting of episodes from the TV series, directed by Jim Terry, was released on home video in the United States in 1989 by Celebrity Home Entertainment. The boy's name was changed from Kōna to "Bobby" in the English version. The TV series itself has also been aired in France, as Biniky le Dragon Rose, in Italy as Rosaura and in Iran as Serendipity.

With no formal law enforcement authority, they constantly find themselves in precarious circumstances as they take on cases like revenge, medical malpractice, taxi robbery, and gang-related murder.
