We've heard so much about how great the Collins Kids were on the old Town Hall Party shows, but now there's finally a chance for us all to see just how great they really were. Lorrie looked like an angel and sang like an angel. Larry was among the era's most dynamic performers. He could run, jump, and duckwalk…all while playing a guitar that was almost as big as he was. This DVD really sets the record straight. The Collins Kids might have had no hits, but they were among the brightest stars in early rock 'n roll. Here (from 1954-58) they're mostly playing other peoples' hits, blues hits, and pop classics, but they're never outclassed by the originals.
Avishai Cohen, who became well known in the jazz world during his period with Chick Corea, is one of the top bassists in the world. His virtuosity and constant creativity in both a modern mainstream format and on funkier grooves seem effortless. As Is...Live at the Blue Note contains a CD (the first seven selections) and a DVD. "Smash," "Feediop," the ballad "Remembering" and an overlong "Caravan" (the one non-original) are featured in both formats while three songs are different. Cohen takes many solos and is always a prominent force in the ensembles. Pianist-keyboardist Sam Barsh and drummer Mark Guiliana communicate very well with Cohen while trumpeter Diego Urcola and tenor soprano saxophonist Jimmy Greene add plenty of fire during their guest appearances

Jewel broke on to the national scene in 1995, presenting a softer, more compassionate sound, which differed greatly from some of the other top female singers who were breaking at the same time, notably Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette. Her debut Pieces of You sold millions, based on the strength of the singles "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "You Were Meant For Me". Spirit followed in 1998, featuring the smash hit "Hands", proving that Jewel was no one record wonder. On "Live At Humphrey's" Jewel mixes in rare gems such as "Rosy and Mick" and "Everything Breaks Sometime" with many of her hits. Shot in August 2001 in support of the This Way album, Jewel's first-ever live DVD showcases her folk rock style at its absolute finest.
