Precious historical documents, often unpublished, such as the boarding of troops in Dakar, the crossing to France, life in the trenches.
The film tells the story of two POC teenagers from a traditional polygamous family, daughters of a father and different mothers from the same homestead: interior views from a distant everyday life. Two young women, their hopes, fears and dreams of having children, love and polygamy. Bibi is 17 and already has a baby, 15-year-old Riki is determined to become a private detective in Paris - but she is determined to take the fireplace from her homestead in Africa with her overseas.

More than half the population live below the poverty line. The ANC is rife with corruption. White people still hold the wealth, leaving the black majority with little hope for social advancement. But whilst economic power is largely still in the hands of the white elites, black middle and upper classes have emerged. The effect on the poorly educated white working class has been disastrous. Around 80 slums have appeared which look just like the black townships but consist solely of white communities. We meet the racist political parties who fuel the hatred. The EFF advocate forcefully taking land back from white people and their leader, Julius Malema, is now the country’s most popular politician.
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and stretching 40 miles into the jungled interior, we kayaked and portaged more than 200 miles around the park's perimeter, seeing this wild country from a new and different perspective. Along the way we encountered river-swimming elephants, manatees, tarpon, surfing hippos, gorillas and more. By trip's end it was hard to decide which were the most beautiful, and the most difficult, parts of the expedition, but it was eye opening, for us all.
