The short film, A play for Public which is going to be a part of the graduation exhibition, is a poetic 25 minutes film meditating on the struggles of modern thought through the persona of a poet who is reflecting and responding to situations from three perspectives: a body, place and time. In this project, essentially, she has studied the contradictory and confusing situations that humans are experiencing as individuals in Neoliberal urban life.

These plays, all written by Tony and Pulitzer-winning playwright and Steppenwolf ensemble member Tracy Letts, share at least one thread: a world off-kilter. These gripping pieces create the opening landscape of this season and will mark a bridge between where we have been and where we are going.

Switch n’ Play is a queer performance collective that stages fabulous subversive drag and burlesque shows. The ensemble explodes traditional gender roles, pushing the limits of what drag and burlesque can be. But more than that, they are a tight-knit family of outsiders who welcome queer audiences into their world and create a safe, tantalizing space where everyone can be themselves. The film introduces diverse members of the collective and sprinkles in a generous helping of delicious live performances.

Hunter-turned-artist Pudlo Pudlat was part of a group of Inuit in the 1950s who were given pencils and paper and asked to ‘draw their thoughts’. Over the next 30 years Pudlo would produce over 4000 drawings, many of which have never been exhibited. 22 years after Pudlo’s death, Arvo Leo traveled to the Canadian arctic to spend the spring living in the place where Pudlo lived in order to create a genre-defying film that dances back and forth between Pudlo’s fantastical drawings and scenes from around the town.
