The 31st installment of a popular series that introduces all 10 episodes of carefully selected horror videos that have been posted! ! So far, I've introduced strange phenomena that are reflected in home videos of ordinary households, and ghosts that have slipped into surveillance cameras. This time as well, in "Hanjaku", it is a video shot when I was walking with my lover on the street at night. The place they visited is a tourist spot, and when they walk along the illuminated road, the camera records it as a truly fantastic landscape. However, in spite of the beautiful scenery, there were some truly incomprehensible things reflected.
It is during a night in a post-reconstruction world that a masked call rings out. Cheikh Morad Djadja wanders through these non-places in search of an anonymous telecommunication space. This universe with its illusory and oppressive walls, makes us notice the existence of an abstract space-time in which a trans-identity tries to find a place. #31# (appel masqué) is a proposal halfway between documentary, fiction and installation, exploring the hidden meaning of a coded message, this one coming from a literary/musical genre, the raï.

31 is popular Turkish slang for masturbation. Feeling Blue and 31 is the story of two young men whose lives quite literally come to rest upon the performance of their appendages. Ege and Kerem are 25-year-old virgins who masturbate excessively. One day Eros appears to them and threatens to castrate them if they fail to get laid within the subsequent seven days. Thus begins an often hilarious, tragic- comic struggle to have sex which involves a dance class, bar-hopping and sultry neighbours. Shot as the result of a bet over just 24 hours, the film has a winningly natural feel, in large part due to the directors’ decision to allow the actors to improvise dialogue within the framework of each scene. First-time actors Ozan Özcan and Deniz Alnıtemiz are perfect as the bumbling, funny and frequently terribly embarrassing leads who come across a bit like Turkey’s answer to ‘Flight of the Conchords’. Destined for cultish fame, Feeling Blue and 31 makes its world premiere at !f.

Dreading the present, thirty-one animators entered the jungle on their imagination to honor José Eustasio Rivera’s Novel, THE VORTEX, published in 1924. Musicians, producers, and composers joined in this cacophonous journey, immersed in the gloom of The Vortex’s legacy to create the works you see in here.
Most of this silent film was shot in Rome within one day, March 31, 1968, and edited in the camera (a 100-feet double8 BW film roll). It is divided in six episodes following an ancient Indian text, Katha Upanishad, in which a youth, Nakiketa, converses with Death. Every section presents an event of that day and refers to a writer and a painter. The film captures some of the excitement of Spring 1968 in Europe and elsewhere.
